Officers with the Kenai Police Department had a brief standoff with a man outside the Kenaitze Administration Building on Wednesday, Apr. 10, that resolved with no injuries or a major incident.
Police were called to the admin building in Old Town Kenai after a dispute broke out involving the man, prompting the dispatch of multiple KPD units. However, thanks to the officers’ work on the scene, what could have been a much worse situation diffused quickly.
According to KPD Chief Dave Ross, the ordeal resolved itself mildly. “We responded to a disturbance in the Dena’ina parking lot. [An] investigation determined that there was an individual that maybe needed some mental health evaluation, and he was detained and transported to get that evaluation. At this point, there aren’t any criminal charges against anybody involved.”
Although the incident began with a dispute, Chief Ross noted that there were no injuries reported.
