The high school hockey season on the peninsula gets underway this weekend with the annual Peninsula Ice Challenge jointly hosted by the Soldotna Stars and the Kenai Kardinals.
The Palmer Moose and Colony Knights head down from the Mat-Su Valley to join the Stars and Kards for this year’s opening tournament.
Soldotna will look to defend its 2023 tournament title, while the Kardinals, boasting a roster filled with returning seniors, come into this year’s Ice Challenge with strong state title aspirations.
