Each week throughout the high school sports 2024-25 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.
For the week of November 12th:
- Kenai Kardinals Athlete of the Week is volleyball player Sophie Tapley.
- Sophie was named MVP of the 3A Southcentral Conference Volleyball Tournament.
- Nikiski Bulldogs Athlete of the Week is volleyball player Alexa Iyatunguk.
- Alexa helped her team to a second-place finish at regions, defeating Seward to advance to the championship game with 9 kills. She then completed an exciting five-set match against Kenai in the championship game, ending with 15 kills.
- Soldotna Stars Athlete of the Week is volleyball player Cassidy Kruse.
- Cassidy was named to the 1st team All-Region team at the Northern Lights Conference Championship Tournament this past weekend.
Congratulations to all Peninsula Sports Athletes of the Week; each recipient will receive a 6-inch combo meal courtesy of Subway of the Kenai Peninsula.
