The Alaska Association of Elementary School Principals announced that Aubrie Ellis, Assistant Principal of Mountain View Elementary in the KPBSD, is their National Outstanding Assistant Principal for 2025.

Ellis was selected through a statewide nomination process conducted by the AAESP.

She graduated from Northwest Nazarene University, received her Master of Education in Teaching and Learning in General Education from Liberty University, and received her K-12 Educational Leadership Endorsement from Longwood University.

Prior to beginning her service as the Assistant Principal at Mountain View Elementary in 2023, Ellis taught as part of the Department of Defense in Germany. She also taught in England and Virginia, where she previously served on the Instructional Technology in the Isle of Wight County School District.

In 2021, she was a finalist for the Virginia Computer Science Teacher of the Year award and the recipient of the IWCSD Empowered Woman Award.

She is also a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the International Society for Technology in Education, and the AAESP.

In addition to serving the Mountain View School Community, Ellis has facilitated the collaboration of in-district elementary intramural athletics in KPBSD, which has helped strengthen school connections and celebrate student athletic achievements.

The principal of Mountain View Elementary, Hannah Dolphin, shared that Ellis is an exceptional assistant principal whose vibrant personality and enthusiasm make her a joy to work with. Doplphin says Ellis has a gift for creating a positive school climate that inspires students and staff alike, and Aubrie’s contributions extend beyond her school site, positively impacting our entire district. Her forward-thinking approach, strong leadership, and commitment to fostering a thriving school environment make her an invaluable asset and a deserving candidate for this award.

NAESP created the award program in 2012 to honor assistant principals who make stellar contributions to their learning communities and to call attention to the assistant principal’s fundamental importance. Recipients must be practicing assistant principals with at least two years of experience who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and set high standards for students, colleagues, parents, and the community.

All National Outstanding Assistant Principals are members of NAESP at the time of their nomination.
