The Alaska State Fair, Inc., is currently seeking candidates interested in serving on its seven-member Board of Directors. Three open seats are available. The Board is responsible for setting policy for the private, nonprofit corporation.
The election committee seeks individuals who can envision the Fair as a gathering place for all Alaskans by encompassing the past, present, and future and who can fully commit to the time and self-discipline required to set policy.
Current directors include John Harkey, President; Jason Ortiz, Vice President; Cody Beus, Secretary; Aryne Randall, Treasurer; Jon-Marc Petersen, Director; Carol Kenley, Director; and William Fischer, Director.
Current 2024 annual and lifetime fair members (who joined before March 24, 2025) will vote to fill three open board seats, each serving a three-year term.
Harkey, Randall, and Petersen are up for re-election.
The election will occur at the Fair’s annual meeting, scheduled for May 21, 2025, @ 7 pm.
The following are for eligible candidates:
- Alaska residents
- At least 18 years old
- Be members of the Alaska State Fair, Inc., either as a lifetime member or an annual member in the current year
- Must not have been employed in the last 365 days by ASF
- Not an immediate family member of an employee at ASF or an individual sharing a domicile with an employee of the Fair within the second degree of consanguinity
The application deadline is March 17, 2025, @ 4:30 p.m.
