The Cook Inlet Academy Eagles and Seward Seahawks are going dancing this week. Both teams are primed for several days of hard-fought basketball at the Alaska Airlines Center, where the 1A and 2A state tournaments will be hosted Mar. 12-15.
In Class 2A, the Seward Seahawks will light up the court from March 13-15. The Seahawks boys, seeded No. 4, kick things off at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday against Wrangell’s No. 5 squad, while the girls, holding a strong No. 3 seed, take on Cordova at 12:30 p.m. on the same day. Expect fast breaks and tough defense as these teams battle for every point.
Over in Class 1A, 16 teams vie for state glory. The Cook Inlet Academy Eagles tip off Wednesday. The boys, as the No. 2 seed, face Scammon Bay at 8 a.m., and the Eagles girls, at a challenging No. 16 seed, go head-to-head with top-seeded Fort Yukon at 11 a.m.
