The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce and Soldotna High School’s First Job Shadow Day is tomorrow! This valuable educational initiative will prepare students for their careers by bridging the gap between education and the workplace.

Heidi Sorrell, Soldotna Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, said many students and businesses have registered to participate in the event. “We’re very excited about it. It’ll be Soldotna’s first Job Shadow.”

The Chamber expects around 152 high school Juniors to participate, exploring various careers and industries.

Hosts for Job Shadow Day will be able to share their industry expertise and daily responsibilities with students by guiding them through practical activities, allowing them to better understand their work and company culture.

Sorrell says that for businesses that didn’t apply to participate in Job Shadow Day, “Get your name in there for next year, and it’s a really cool opportunity to get involved with the kids in our community.”

Job Shadow Day is on Wednesday, Mar. 26, with check-in @ 8 am at SoHi Commons.

Shadowing time will begin at 8:30 and end at 12:30 pm.

Students and hosts will meet for lunch shortly after at Soldotna Prep School.
