One of Sen. Peter Micciche’s concerns during this legislative session is the operating budget Gov. Sean Parnell proposed last December.
Sen. Micciche said the success of this turnaround lies within Senate Bill 21 which provides a tax credit against the oil and gas corporations income tax for qualified oil and gas service industry expenditures.
Sen. Micciche: “I think most Alaskan’s are aware of our budget woes which we hope to see turnaround with the success of Senate Bill 21, we’re already seeing a lot of activity on that, we know that most days we’re making more at this oil price under SB 21 than we were under ACES, but we still have budget woes just because of the decline and we’re going to have to be more responsible with our spending and its not a capital project problem its an operating budget problem.”
Micciche said we have to solve this problem now so that future Alaskan’s aren’t left with this debt.
Sen. Micciche: “I strongly feel that spending our children and grand children’s dollars today is irresponsible. It will take a lot of work to get there its not something you do with an axe or a hatchet its something you do with a scalpel, and I’ve got one I’ve got a scalpel so we’re putting a lot of hours into this years budget.”
Sen. Peter Micciche will be appearing on the Tall Dark & Handsome Show next Tuesday at 5:00 pm.
