Yesterday the Anchorage Special Assignment Unit received a tip about a suspicious package being delivered to an Anchorage hotel which resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old Markee Allen of California.
Anchorage Police Department Public Information Officer Jennifer Castro told us what happened after officers went to the hotel and made contact with Allen,who the package was addressed to.
Castro: “Special Assignment Unit Officers had attained a search warrant for the package. When they seized the package they discovered a kilo of Cocaine, in addition to a half kilo of heroine and that was seized.”
Allen was detained and charged federally today with attempting to possess cocaine and heroine with the intent to distribute and he will be arraigned in federal court tomorrow.
Castro: “What we call the street value of the drugs combined was estimated at about $400,000 and the wholesale value of those drugs was estimated at about $151,000. “
