Steps Towards Appropriations of Hospital Funds

Last night the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly unanimously passed an ordinance introducing the appropriation of nearly $35,000,000 for the new specialties building at the Central Peninsula Hospital.

The Borough’s Finance Director Craig Chapman said that the Borough received the monies last week from selling the hospital bonds.

Chapman: “What the ordinance will do is give us the legal authority to spend the money.”

Chapman also said these are the final steps in the process.

Chapman: “Bid documents are out on the street, we expect to have bids back in hopefully towards the end of March with awards sometime around the first part of April. So that would coincide with the appropriation of these funds.”

There is a public hearing to discuss the appropriations of the funds from the Borough to the Hospital scheduled for April 1st.
