Pacific Rim Logistics has been working over the winter to renovate a 9000 square foot building at the Kenai Landing in order to open their Kenai headquarters in about a month.

PRL Logistics CEO Ron Hyde said he is proud of the work they accomplished and feels like the final restoration showcases and respects the history of the Landing.

Hyde: “Had a wonderful relationship working with the City of Kenai and the Kenai River Center and we all just got together and I shared my plans with what I wanted to do and how we could work together to accomplish it because you know it’s an old building so we needed to work hard and engineer getting it up to code but at the same time keep the flavor of the building.”

Hyde said that they hired all local labor.

Hyde: “And I tell ya, the skills that were needed were down here, the craftsman especially that were needed to help with this project were here. This has been a complete Kenai effort to revive this facility and to help us kick start our business down here.”

PRL Logistics is hoping to open their Kenai headquarters in about a month and look forward to hiring locally.

Hyde: “We’ve actually expanded our operation up north in support of oil and gas by putting to work a little over 100 people on the slope and probably up to a couple hundred or 300 people through our vendors and subcontractors. So we plan to do the same here we plan to hire locally and to subcontract a tremendous amount of our services.”
