Local Powerlifters Set National Records

National records were established by three central peninsula high school powerlifters at the 2014 USAPL Alaska Powerlifting Championships.

Zach Hallford from Soldotna High School, Cipriana Castellano and Robin Johnson from Kenai Central High School set American records in respective age/weight class divisions.

 

Cipriana Castellano proved herself possibly the strongest American powerlifter in her 16-17 age/ 165 lb. division in the history of the competition.  Castellano set a new American record in the Deadlift with a lift of 319 pounds; a new American record in the Back Squat with a lift of 308 pounds; and an American record for total combined weight with a combined total of 766.326 pounds.

 

Zach Hallford set a new American record in the Back Squat technique, squating 475 pounds; the greatest weight ever in his age/weight division.

 

Robin Johnson set a new American record in the 13-15 female/ 165 lb. division with a Back Squat of 258 pounds.

 

At the 2014 USAPL Alaska Powerlifting Championships, April 26th, Castellano, Johnson and Hallford outlifted the entire field which competed at the USAPL 2014 High School Nationals contested March 29-30 in Killeen, Texas.
