Although contractors had planned to break ground near Safeway for the Binkley Street Renovation Project Monday, waiting for a permit from the state has pushed the start-up to either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Project Manager Lee Frey said they still plan to begin the project near the highway and people will see traffic impediments this week.
Frey: “They will be blocking off from Sterling Highway to just south of the Riverview Avenue intersection there, we will be detouring traffic through Warehouse Drive to Reger to get around there or people can take Birch Street or Kobuk Street to get around as well.”
Frey said that everything is ready to go so as soon as they receive the permit they can start and drivers should be aware of changing traffic patterns.
