Homer Electric Association has planned an outage for early Thursday morning in order to complete the installation of a new transmission line between Soldotna and Nikiski.
Joe Gallagher with HEA gave us more details.
Gallagher: “The outage is going to begin at approximately 3 am in the morning and last about 10 minutes. The outage will take place in the early morning hours in order to minimize the impact on residential and business members. The outage area will be basically the city of Soldotna and the K-Beach Road area. The K-Beach Road area will be from the Sterling Highway intersection in Soldotna, along K-Beach Road, and all arterial roads all the way around to Helmsman Avenue which is approximately mile 13.5.”
He said that HEA would be placing automated calls to customers in the affected areas.
Gallagher also reminded people to unplug sensitive electronics.
Gallagher: “Members in the outage area should take steps to protect sensitive electronic equipment because the power will go off and come back on and it’s always a good idea to unplug any of these sensitive electronic such as a compute or a t.v. or things of that nature just to be on the safe side so that when the power goes off and then comes back on that equipment will be protected.”
