Binkley Street in Soldotna will close at the Sterling Highway up to Riverview Avenue Wednesday morning at 5 am in order to begin construction to implement roundabouts.
The Binkley Street Renovation Project was originally slated to begin Monday but was held up by a delay in permitting from the state to allow them to close the street so close to the highway.
We spoke with Project Manager Lee Frey who detailed the detours.
Frey: “They will be blocking off from Sterling Highway to just south of the Riverview Avenue intersection there, we will be detouring traffic through Warehouse Drive to Reger to get around there or people can take Birch Street or Kobuk Street to get around as well.”
Frey previously stated they plan to complete this portion by Memorial Day weekend in order to avoid the high traffic.
