Over the next couple weeks construction on Marathon Road that will restrict access to Escape Route Road in North Kenai.
Borough Road Service Area Director Pat Malone said the construction is to improve drainage along the road.
Malone: “The road itself has had problems every spring and what they intend to do from what I understand is excavate some crummy material and put in a decent base and cap it with good material and try to make a nice road out of it that can stand up to heavy traffic because they have a lot of service equipment heading out that road to their infrastructure.”
Malone said there will be no construction on the Escape Route Road however access will be restricted to property owners and emergency traffic only.
Property owners will need to go to the north end for access while emergency access will be able to approach from either end.
