Repairs to the Coral Seymour Memorial Park, following a wind-induced, structural collapse of the grandstand roof, are continuing in preparation for opening day of the Peninsula Oilers baseball season.
Volunteers are needed to assist with readying the park for Sunday, June 8th, KSRM Day at the Ballpark. Game time scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The community is being called on to physically help ready the ballpark and also to make donations toward the repairs to the grandstands.
A crew will be removing debris from the ballpark on Wednesday.
The grandstands have been cleared as structurally sound by Taurianen Engineering and with the addition of guardrails will likely be open for opening day. The press box area is also being readied with repairs to the roof.
Anyone interested in volunteering to assist in a wide variety of jobs can contact James Clark at 398-2528 or the Oilers office at 283-7133.
Donations can also be coordinated through Oilers GM James Clark.
