Crews have been demolishing buildings near the “Y” in Soldotna since Monday in preparation for the construction of Walgreens.
G&S Construction President Dan Green detailed what is in their contract.
Green: “This particular project there’s three additional roads, city dedicated right of ways, road paving, curb, gutter, sidewalk, storm sewer, sewer and water, as part of this project and that will support the Walgreens and Walgreens building and additional a new retail spot and then another area for a future restaurant.”
He said he didn’t know what the retail space or restaurant space will accommodate.
Green said that with construction of the roads, there will be changes made to the current intersection.
Green: “Well sometime in the future here there’s pretty significant alterations to that existing intersection that will most certainly impact traffic but that will have to be done at the appropriate time, likely evenings and nights, likely not in the heat of the summer that’s for sure.”
He said the project is slated to be done within 10 months.
