The Homer Police Department has confirmed one death due to a residence fire on Rainbow Court this morning around 10:30 am.
According to the report, Homer Police and the Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a residence fire and found both active flames and smoke.
Due to the size of the fire Kachemak Emergency Services was also called and assisted in controlling the fire.
The body of what appeared to be an adult was found in the hallway near the bedrooms and has been sent to the Alaska Crime Lab for positive identification.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
