Another bag limit will be implemented for the Copper Basin Community Subsistence Harvest in Unit 13.

The Unit 13B harvest will go from one bull moose to one bull moose with spike-fork antlers, or 50-inch antlers with four or more brow tines on at least on side.

Wildlife Biologist Milo Burcham with the U.S. Forest Service explained the goal of the new regulations on subsistence hunts around the state.

Burcham: “Fifty inch antlers or animals with 3 or 4 brow tines generally correspond to mature bulls, there’s probably not an exact age when individual bulls reach that size, but the goal is of those sort of regulations or that slot regulations is to allow some bulls to escape from the younger ages up to breeding bulls and then once they become older bulls they are legal for harvest again but the attempt is to try to keep some breeding bulls in the population.”

This new bag limit matches bag limits set for Units 13A and 13E that were announced last week.
