The Alaska Board of Fisheries will consider holding future meetings on the Kenai Peninsula.

Board of Fisheries Director Glenn Haight said it will be discussed at the October 15-17 meetings.

Haight: “Well what will happen is we got this work session that comes up in October and that’s where they’ll look at future schedules and determine where they want to meet, that’s the point where its determined.”

Joint Resolution No. 1 will request that Upper Cook Inlet Finfish Meeting 2017 will be held on the Kenai Peninsula is expected by be brought before the Kenai Peninsula Borough and peninsula city councils later this fall.

The City of Kenai has been working to get the Board of Fish to move meetings down here since at least 2013 and City Manager Rick Koch has said it makes more sense due to all of the areas of fishing based out of the Kenai.

Haight encouraged the public to submit written comments online for the Board of Fish to review before October 1.
