Last Saturday local emergency responders held their Fill the Boot fundraiser for the Alaska Muscular Distrophy Association in the Fred Meyers parking lot.

Brad Nelson with Central Emergency Services said they raised $5,510.00 from 9 am to about 3 pm.

Nelson: “We were out in the Fred Myer parking lot we had fire fighters and their familes manning the enterences and walking through the parking lot. People in this town always come through, anytime we ever ask the town comes through, yet another example we raised over 5 thousand dollars in 6 hours, it’s just great. We had the Kenai cruisers car club came out brought a lot of their cars out there to show off and they brought over a thousand dollars themselves.  So this is a huge success, I learned a couple of things for next year so the new format is gonna stay will just have a little tweak to make it better from year to year.”
