The Binkley Project will alter access to the Soldotna Post Office temporarily while they close Binkley Street between Park Avenue and Corral Street.
Project Manager Lee Frey said the normal post office entrance and exit off of Binkley Street will be closed temporarily.
Frey: “We’ve put in a new access off of Park Avenue that’s just going to be a temporary access on gravel so pretty much the only access to the post office now is going to be off of Park Avenue that will be an entrance and an exit that we’ll be rerouting all of the traffic through there, we won’t be allowing any traffic through Binkley Street between Corral and Park and between that area there while we let the contractor go to work there and hopefully there’s not a lot of underground work there and we’re hoping to just move through that area as quickly as we can and get curb, gutter and sidewalk all in there and move on.”
That temporary Park Avenue access may be approached from the Kenai Spur Highway or Fireweed Street.
He said the duration of the temporary access is undetermined and they hope that the weather will cooperate and they can get through there pretty quickly.
That closure of the post offices’ main accesses is scheduled for Saturday, September 6.
