The Kenai Peninsula College’s residency halls have doubled in enrollment since last year at 60%.
Suzie Kendrick with the college said the goal of the dorms were to draw a diverse range of students, and a quick look of the numbers shows it is working.
Kendrick: “In terms of the types of students that we’re attracting, about 42% of the current students are from the Kenai Peninsula, about 22% actually about 23% are from the Anchorage area, then other areas of Alaska we’ve got about 19%, and then from other areas like outside (Alaska) we’ve got about 16%.”
They hope to be at nearly 90% enrollment in the dorms next year.
