The Alaska Fire Conference kicked off September 19 with an assembly of firefighters from across the state and will offer training classes throughout the next week.
Conference Information Officer Bud Sexton said having the conference rotated to the Kenai helps local departments tremendously as they don’t have to spend as much on travel and can offer the training to more crew members.
Sexton also said this year firefighters from around the state will assemble here on the Kenai and see some of the newest technologies used like an underwater helicopter escape simulator.
Other training exercises will include live fire, vehicle extractions, and tank farm technicalities.
