On Monday morning around 3:30 am Kenai police arrested 19 year-old Josiah McElwain who had driven through the wildflower field and into the ditch while intoxicated.
They had received a report of a truck driving back and forth in the flower field along the Spur Highway in Kenai and on arrival found his pickup stuck in the deep ditch between the field and the highway.
McElwain was arrested for driving under the influence, a class A misdemeanor with at least 72 hours in jail, use of an ignition interlock device for six months and a fine of $1,500.
Kenai police are still investigating the extent of the damage to the field.
