The Kenai Peninsula Borough’s Office of Emergency Management along with hospital personnel and emergency responders have been training with CDC Ebola guidelines.
OEM Director Scott Walden…
Walden: “The centers of disease control at the national level has been updating their guidelines for 911 centers and what information they should ask for from callers and what information should be given to EMS responders and we’ve been talking a lot to the CDC and health and social services at a state level on what personal protection gear people should be using or precautions they should take when responding to an effected case.”
He said that the there have been a number of courses provided however the chance of Ebola coming to Alaska is slim.
Walden: “And the other thing that we were told today is that the percentage of the problem coming to Alaska is extremely extremely low and even tho we shouldn’t ignore the fact of the possibility today, we shouldn’t be concerned every time someone has a fever or sore throat that thats the case.”
