The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly will discuss a project to install a paved, lighted pedestrian path from K-Beach Elementary to Kenai Peninsula College.
Assembly Member Brent Johnson said the money for the project was requested by Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, the Kenai Peninsula College and also the Alaska Christian College.
Johnson: “There were some discussions that took place before the money was excepted because the project required right of way and it was in the DOT right of way and it requires maintenance and the administration wanted to make sure that those things were going to be taken care of in the future. With discussion with all the groups involved it turned out that the college has agreed to maintain this and DOT is going to allow it to occur in the right of way.”
The borough assembly meeting will hear public comments on that ordinance to accept and appropriate $463,100 from the State of Alaska for that project.
Also on the agenda for the October 28 meeting is a quarterly report from the Central Peninsula Hospital along with a presentation on the Alaska North Slope Gas Line Project.
That meeting will begin at 6:00 pm Tuesday, October 28 in the Assembly Chambers in Soldotna.
