The Kenai Peninsula College Kenai River Campus is celebrating Alaska Native and Native American Heritage Month during November.
Suzie Kendrick with the college detailed free events happening that are open to the public.
Kendrick: “November 6th there is going to be a fried bread social and kind of a get together and celebrate culture in general. It’s going to be open to the public and its going to be held from 12:30pm to 2 in the afternoon in the McLane commons. And then the fallowing week also on thursday there is going to be a very interesting bead work and fish skin basket demonstration by Rachel Adams also going to be in the McLane commons. There will be two demonstrations, one held at noon on the 13th and one held at 6pm.”
There will also be Dena’ina language presentations this month, which Kendrick said she hopes to see many people interested in.
Earlier this year the Division of Elections was mandated to provide election materials in a variety of Native Alaskan languages.
