Furie Operating Alaska’s gas production, “mini” monopod set for installation in the Cook Inlet Kitchen Lights Unit will winter in Seattle.
As we previously reported, the company had originally hoped the platform could be producing natural gas around October or November however after a delay in shipping from Texas, it arrived in Kachemak Bay too late in the season.
Furie weighed options of offloading the platform in Anchorage, storing it near Anchorage at Port Mackenzie, or returning it to Seattle, the latter of which turned out to be the cheapest.
The company wishes to begin installation of the fully automated platform in May of 2015.
This mini-monopod will be a natural gas production only platform, having no drilling rig of its own. Drilling rigs will be able to cantilever over the platform in order to drill the production wells.
