Earlier in October it was decided that a tree would be cut down from in front of where the Paint the Kenai community mural project is to be hung on the Kenai Airport.
The suggestion spurred some contention however ultimately City Attorney Scott Bloom found that the city had permission to make the decision and the council decided it would be cut.
At the council’s last meeting, Student Representative Allie Ostrander made a suggestion in her closing comments.
Ostrander:”Thought that maybe, since there were some conflicting ideas about whether to cut down the tree or not, we could use the tree to make a bench in that spot since it’s in the middle of the mural.”
The idea has not been put into a formal action item however it was received by council well.
