This summer ENSTAR Natural Gas replaced compressors at the Kenai Peninsula’s Gudenrath plant.
John Sims with ENSTAR…
Sims: “We had two compressors that were originally installed back in the early 70’s and as you can imagine with the age of the compressors as well as the increase in demand there was a need for those to be replaced and upgraded so ENSTAR invested about $7.8 million in new compressors. Natural gas compressors push and pull natural gas throughout the distribution system and they are really a key part of our ability to provide gas during times of high demand so really very important components of a natural gas delivery system.”
He added that like with most technologies, those upgrades have yielded improved gas deliverability.
Sims said since 2009 ENSTAR has invested around $115 million across the system in efficiency upgrades.
