Local small businesses are taking part in Small Business Saturday tomorrow, although many chain stores starting their sales last night.
U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski encouraged people to shop local.
Murkowski: “Sleep in, skip the big box stores and the Black Friday madness and head out to celebrate Small Business Saturday. Did you know that small businesses make up nearly all of the private employers in Alaska and fill more than 52% of all private sector jobs in our state? Owning and operating a small business is one of the biggest challenges out there and I would like to recognize all of our small business owners for their hard work and dedication to their communities.”
