Today Governor elect Bill Walker and Lt. Governor elect Byron Mallott will be sworn in at 11:30.

After five years in office, current Governor Sean Parnell reflected on changes he has seen.

Gov. Parnell: “I’ve always kind of kept a map of Alaska in my head as I’ve thought about the economic opportunity that we have been blessed to help create together. I think about Point Thompson. If I start on the North Slope and I think about five years ago, there was nothing there. We worked together, all of us, to resolve that litigation and today, as I had a chance to visit last summer, today facilities are there, thousands of new jobs have been created across the years and we have the cornerstone of an Alaska LNG Project, a large volume gasline, so you go there today you’ll see facilities where five years ago they weren’t there.”

That swearing-in ceremony will be at the Centennial Hall in Juneau.

Craig Fleener will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event which will be celebrated with a variety of performances from the Thunder Mountain High School Brass Quintet, the Crimson Quartet, the Mt. St. Elias Dancers, and the Filipino Ati Atihan Dancers.
