Soldotna is encouraging everyone to shop local and get in the holiday spirit by stopping by the annual Christmas tree lighting and festivities this weekend.

Michelle Glaves with the Soldotna Chamber said they’re pulling out all the stops to keep that money in the community…

Glaves: “We have our ‘Unwrap Soldotna.’ We have 25 businesses participating, we have weekly drawings as well as a grand prize of $1,000. There’s 25 businesses that are participating in that in Soldotna this year and abouts, we have some on K-Beach as well and outside Soldotna. Give us a call if you don’t know where that’s at, we have them posted on our Facebook page as well as our website, or give us a call and we can get you a flyer.”

Also, the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold their Christmas in the Park at the Soldotna Creek Park on Saturday, December 6.

Glaves said Triumvirate Theatre’s A Charlie Brown Christmas will kick off festivities at 4 pm.

Glaves: “We’ll have hot chocolate and cookies and coffee and all kinds of good stuff and we’ll have the lighting of the tree as well at the end of Charlie Brown Christmas.”

That event is free and open to the public and heaters have also been donated to help stave off the cold.
