Update:

As this aired at 4 pm on Friday, an email was received stating that this meeting was cancelled in order to consolidate the Anchorage and Juneau meetings into one meeting to decide on nominees.

We will report when the new meeting is scheduled for.

Original:

The joint Board of Fisheries and Game will meet in Anchorage on December 29 to finalize nominations for commissioners.

Glenn Haight with the Department of Fish and Game said the purpose of the joint boards is to provide the Governor with the names of qualified applicants for the commission positions.

Haight: “And so each of  the boards have provided committee members, three of them, and they will be meeting on Monday to review the candidates they’ve received.”
There will be three members from the Board of Fisheries and three members from the Board of Game who will convene to choose who to interview and identify interview questions as well.

Local drifter Roland Maw is among the nominees to be considered. Earlier in November Maw was appointed to newly elected Governor Bill Walker’s transition team subcommittee to represent fisheries.

That meeting will take place in the Aerie Conference Room at 333 Raspberry Road in Anchorage on Monday, December 29 at 1:30 pm.
