No one was injured in an overnight fire that broke out at the campsite of Italian oil company Eni on the North Slope.

Eni Petroleum spokesman Grande Whitney said everyone involved was safe after the fire at the Nikaitchuq Operations Camp which is north of the Kuparuk River unit operated by ConocoPhillips.

Whitney said the fire took place around midnight and everyone displaced by the fire was housed at a nearby camp.

Since 2007 Eni has been shifting  the Nikaitchuq Operations Camp from conventional onshore drilling to lateral drilling which targets offshore oil deposits and the company reached 25,000 barrels of production per day in June.

Eni Petroleum expects drilling work to continue without interruption.
