We’ve previously reported BlueCrest Energy is constructing on onshore facility at the Cosmopolitan Unit near Anchor Point. The facility will add 400 jobs to the local economy in the short term.
BlueCrest CEO Benjamin Johnson said they also have future plans for offshore development…
Johnson: “The platforms are constructed elsewhere and they’re floated in, they’re brought in, and sunk into the sea. That will take about 3 or 4 months each. Once we set those up, we’ll probably have another 40 or 50 people. But then while we’re drilling the wells offshore, that’s where we’ll have at least 60 people at a time on the offshore jack up rig and we anticipate keeping that rig busy about 7 months a year.”
BlueCrest is also working on a mid-size LNG facility in Point MacKenzie with WesPac, which would get gas to local users in just a few years. In Alaska, BlueCrest works exclusively with the Cosmo Unit.
