The topic of marijuana has saturated all forms of the Alaskan media yet the discussions seem necessary as the state moves toward the initiative taking effect.

Renee Schofield of TSS Services of Ketchikan presented to a joint chamber luncheon about the importance of employers communicating their drug policies to employees before the ballot measure 2 is implemented in February.

She also said there isn’t as much concern about the smoking of marijuana as there is the new edibles that could be available.

Mayor Pat Porter was also at the luncheon and communicated the same concerns.

Overall the marijuana discussion has saturated the Kenai Peninsula, during this week alone there was a town hall style meeting on Cannabis in Kenai, an ordinance regarding grow operations discussed at the borough assembly meeting, and the Kenai Police Chief’s report on a conference he attended in Colorado regarding marijuana along with this luncheon.
