During Governor Bill Walker’s State of the Budget address in Juneau he kept his word that no areas were off limits in the anticipated cuts.
In light of the multibillion-dollar budget deficit, Walker proposed for his office to have 11% less staff than prior administrations and has asked commissioners to show a 5 – 8% reduction in each department.
He also addressed education.
Walker continued to tout Medicaid expansion.
Overall the governor said he will propose a $550-million cut in general funding from last year.
