Central Emergency Services responded to a car on fire in the Soldotna Prep parking lot around 2:20 pm this afternoon.
Brad Nelson with CES said when they arrived the car was completely engulfed in flames but there was no one inside and no injuries.
The owner of the vehicle said they had been working on the electronics of the vehicle over the past couple weeks and Nelson said CES believes that is what started the fire.
The vehicle is a total loss.
In a statement sent to parents from Soldotna Prep Principal Curtis Schmidt;
“There were no injuries involved and the driver is safe and unharmed.” he also stated, “The fire happened away from all other vehicles, no property was damaged, and students did a great job of staying away from the scene and following directions from school staff. Thank you to all of the bus drivers and parents who were picking up students for being patient and following all traffic directions during the incident.”
