February 10 is the last day to submit comments to the Alaska State Parks Department for the Kenai River Ranch property.
Area Management Biologist Robert Begich with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game attended the January 20 scoping meeting where he said the community turnout created a wide variety of input.
Begich: “People brought their ideas forth based on things that are missing in the community for recreation or a solution to problems that might be occurring elsewhere in the area or on the river.”
Although some participants proposed developing the nearly 100 acre parcel located near mile 12 of Funny River Road, others were concerned about the potential impact on the river.
Despite differences, five working groups collaborated to generate ideas like walking paths, a boat launch and fishing access, or a camping area.
