A multi-vehicle accident was clogging the Sterling Highway near the Central Peninsula Landfill at 8am this morning.
Brad Nelson with CES is just returning from the scene…
Nelson: “If you’re heading southbound towards Homer, it’s going to be just after the dump, that big hill after the dump. If you’re heading towards Soldotna, it’s going to be the big hill just before the dump. The accident occurred right around 8 o’clock, multiple vehicles involved, no injuries. We responded, got on scene, we had reports of vehicle smoke, turns out just to be steam, so we’re clear of the scene, but the Troopers are going to be on scene for quite a while. One of the vehicles went deep down into the ditch, there’s another disabled vehicle still on the roadway, so they’re going to be there for a while getting the scene cleared up. It is kind of slick and icy out there so if you don’t have to be in that area, if you could avoid it, if you are going to go through, just drive nice and slow and careful of the emergency vehicles in that area.”
