How do you feel about Speaker of the House Mike Chenault’s bill which would stop the state starting pursuing another LNG project until the mega-project clears its first hurdles?
The House Resources Committee will be taking public comment on HB 132 at a special evening hearing tomorrow at 6pm.
Speaker Chenault (R-Nikiski): “We think we’re on the right track. We have AGDC there as a backup plan in case that plan fails, but the last thing we want to do is add any uncertainty into the big project.”
Chenault’s bill requires one of three conditions to be met before AGDC can pursue other projects: the state or another party withdrawing from Alaska LNG; Alaska LNG entering its next phase or the calendar turns to July 1, 2017.
You can participate in the hearing at the local Legislative Information Office on Main St Loop in Kenai tomorrow at 6pm. Testimony will also be taken during a committee meeting Saturday, March 14, beginning at 1 pm.
