The Veterans Administration of Alaska will host a town hall style meeting at the Kenai Peninsula College’s Kenai River Campus on March 12.
KPC Veterans Services coordinator Drew Baker…
Baker: “Well the VA town hall meetings in general are to give veterans in our area an opportunity to hear the latest information on issues and changes within VA processes to include their benefits, their medical and education benefits and give them an opportunity to voice any concerns they might have about those issues.”
As we previously reported, Alaska and the Kenai Peninsula both rank high in veteran’s population.
Baker said KPC also has a lot of veterans.
Baker: “Probably in the neighborhood of about 70 students maybe more that attend every semester and then almost 200 total throughout the state that take at least one course at KPC, most of those being distance obviously. But the 70 to maybe 80 that I spoke of are more local Kenai Peninsula students that come to the college.”
Director of the Alaska VA Healthcare System Susan Yeager is scheduled to be at the meeting along with representatives from Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan’s offices.
That meeting will begin at 5 pm in the Kenai River Campus Residence Hall on Thursday, March 12.
