The cabin fire that Central Emergency Services responded to around 5:20 this morning is a total loss.

Brad Nelson said crews were on scene in about 10 minutes.

Nelson: “And observed a small probably 10 to 12 foot by 20 foot cabin that was being used as a residence fully engulfed in flames. The walls were pretty much burnt to the ground at that point. The sole occupant of the cabin was able to self evacuate but did suffer some cuts and minor burns on the way out so they were transported with non-life threatening injuries to CPH via one of our ambulances.”

Crews were able to extinguish the fire with water and foam but little was left of the structure and crews were told the occupant did not know what started it.

Nelson: “We went back later once the sun came out and did an investigation but due to the extensive amount of damage we were unable to come up with any kind of origin or cause, the damage was just too extensive.”

The homeowner has estimated the damages as at least $35,000.
