Kenai Peninsula Tourism Looks Bright for 2015

The Kenai Peninsula’s upcoming tourist season is looking very promising.

Hamrick: “Anecdotally we have heard from our members that bookings are up substantially so we’re really looking forward to a strong year.”

That was Shanon Hamrick with the Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council who said that forecast is due to a few different things.

Hamrick: “One is just the continued economic forecast nationally is painting a rosy picture for travel. Travel related expenditures are expected to jump 4.1% in 2015 according to the U.S. Travel Association so just overall a better national picture, but of course with gas prices being as low as they are we are anticipating that will have some impacts on visitation to the Kenai Peninsula this year.”
