The Kenai Peninsula has always been known for it’s fishing but tourism marketing is veering from that topic after recent low returns.
Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council Executive Director Shanon Hamrick said due to the well known fishing, that’s something they have never really focused on marketing.
Hamrick: “We’re just moving even further into really promoting our adventure activities and showing people what a diverse product we have here on the peninsula so that they understand that there’s a lot more to do here than just fishing, even though we do still have excellent fishing opportunities.”
As we previously reported, the upcoming 2015 tourism season is looking up, with many businesses already reporting higher bookings.
