Board of Fish Interviewing Applicants

The Alaska Board of Fisheries has so far this year received 16 applications for former Chair Karl Johnstone’s replacement.

 

Gillis: “That’s considered a lot. So in 2014 in total we had about 10 applicants in that whole year. So 16 from the beginning of this year? That’s a lot.”

 

Karen Gillis, Director of State Boards and Commissions, will start interviewing candidates today. She couldn’t confirm which candidates would be interviewed, but had a number of applications from the Kenai Peninsula…

 

Gillis: “Kenai/Soldotna area are: Dwight Kramer, Robert Ruffner, Jeffrey Fox, and Chris Every.”

 

Interviews will be completed on Thursday when Gillis will forward her recommendations. The Governor will announce his nominee on Friday.

 

In related fisheries news, the House Fisheries Committee today confirmed Sam Cotten’s bid to be the next Commissioner of Fish & Game.
