Helicopter Activity Part of Mock Emergency Drill

Central Peninsula Hospital is participating in a mock emergency drill in collaboration with South Peninsula Hospital in Homer.

Substantial helicopter activity has been reported in Soldotna as a part of that.

Borough Mayor Mike Navarre spoke about the collaboration at Tuesday night’s assembly meeting saying he wanted to let people near the hospital know so there is no panic with all the activity.

Navarre: “Provides CPH with the opportunity to participate and test our emergency operations plan, in addition to satisfying mandatory annual drill requirements. The long and short of it is they’ll be helicoptering in, from Homer, victims I guess in a mock disaster, mudslide into Homer hospital that disables the hospital and the ability for them to respond.”

That drill will continue tomorrow, March 21, as well.
